Deadline for prestigious offshore awards fast approaching

November 2014

High level of entries expected for awards focusing on new technologies

Offshore oil and gas and renewables companies have just days left to enter the 2015 Offshore Achievement Awards and be recognised with the brightest and best industry talent.

The deadline for the awards, organised and hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section and supported by main sponsor TAQA, is Monday 1 December.

The 11 awards recognise and reward successful companies, the development of breakthrough technologies, safety innovations and individual contributions to the UK offshore industry. New for this year is the Outstanding Graduate Programme award, and organisers expect to see significant interest in this category as an increasing number of companies invest in the industry’s future workforce.

SPE Aberdeen director Ian Phillips, chief executive of the Oil and Gas Innovation Centre, said:

"Supporting young people to progress with a career in the industry is at the heart of what SPE is about. We feel that recognition is long overdue for the outstanding efforts being made in graduate training and apprenticeship schemes.
"In line with previous years, we also expect to see high entry levels for the categories focusing upon technology and innovation. There are decades of oil production still to come, along with huge opportunities in the renewables sector, and innovation is key to maximising this potential.
"We want to commend those who have been breaking down barriers and developing technologies which are extending the life of our industry, and hope that this inspires the continued development that is critical to our industry."

Companies and industry professionals are invited to nominate across eleven categories by downloading an entry form

Ross Lowdon, chairman of the SPE Aberdeen Section, added:

"The Offshore Achievement Awards provide affirmation to talented people and successful businesses throughout the energy industry.
"Winning or being shortlisted is an accolade which not many can boast about, and places your business in a prime position. Even taking the time to submit an entry demonstrates great recognition for your staff and their commitment.
"With a week still remaining until the deadline, there is still time to enter for companies and individuals who want to stand up and be counted."

The 2014 awards took place at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and saw more than 500 industry professionals attend, coming from a variety of public and private companies and industry bodies around the UK.

The Offshore Achievement Awards are open for entries from all UK-registered companies.
