With less than 6 weeks to go until nominations close for the 2016 awards, we speak to this year’s Young Professional winner, Murray Kerr about his experience and what winning meant to him.
Leaving school at 15, Murray joined the Royal Navy before going on to study several technical HNDs and achieving a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
After 5 years, Murray left the Royal Navy to become a trainee subsea engineer, later taking up numerous engineering roles with major operators and service providers.
In late 2011, Murray remortgaged his home to set up his own subsea engineering company, SengS, and in the first 4 months made a net profit of £150,000. At the time of the award ceremony, SengS employed 17 staff with a turnover of over £2 million.
A strong candidate for our Young Professional award, Murray scooped the prize this year and has seen real benefits since the win.
