BiSN's Double Win at OAAs

October 2018

2017 was a seminal year in BiSN’s short history. Established in North West England in 2010, a period of intense R&D, and US-based deployment had culminated in the company’s first North Sea deployment of its revolutionary Wel-Lok M2M downhole sealant technology.

Literally a handful of months later, BiSN entered the Offshore Achievement Awards’ Innovator and Great Company (SME) categories: they were crowned the only double award-winners at the awards ceremony in March 2018.

BiSN CEO, Paul Carragher, explains what the Awards mean to the company and the impact they’ve had:

“In 2017, BiSN truly “took off” and the results of our work so far include investment from the venture arms of some of world’s largest oil companies, together with support from the OGTC, this allowed us to continue our strategy of North Sea expansion, whilst developing an increased range of bismuth alloys and downhole sealing tools.
“To be awarded the Innovator and Great Company (SME) Offshore Achievement Awards is about as succinct a response to that investment as we could wish for. Up against a record number of entries, winning both categories reflects how industry, as a whole, views both our technology and our journey as a company – and that is so valuable; not only in terms of existing and future clients, but in terms of a great internal pride and confidence in what we do.”
