Exceeding all expectations

February 2019

EXCEED has been nominated for two awards at the 2019 Offshore Achievement Awards - Export Achievement and Great Company (SME).

We speak to Ian Mills, Managing Director of EXCEED, about the double nomination and what it would mean to win.

Congratulations on being nominated in two categories! Tell us why you entered your business into the OAAs.

"As a growing, successful business, we find we are constantly moving from one project to another, sometimes without taking the time to take a step back and acknowledge our achievements. We see the SPE Offshore Achievement Awards as a great opportunity to do just that. It is such a prestigious, industry-leading event, which offers us the chance to share the stage and network with other great companies - all of whom have been evaluated by our peers under the independent governance of the Society of Petroleum Engineers."

What does it mean to your business to be a finalist? What would it mean to win?

"In simple terms, Exceed is very proud of its accomplishments. We are delighted that a local, Aberdeen company such as ourselves merits a place as a finalist alongside some brilliant peer companies. To have continued to invest and serve during the recent prolonged downturn is testimony to our commitment to the business, our clients and our employees. So to get an opportunity to recognise and celebrate our work so far would be a great reward for our team."

In your opinion, how do awards like these support your business and the industry in general?

"Recognition and endorsement from an independent, expert panel of industry peers raises our profile and sends out a very positive message to our clients, both locally and internationally. It also sends out an important message to potential new service partners and - most importantly - new Exceed team members. The OAAs bring the added benefit of recognition for the Exceed team; acknowledging their commitment and continuous growth during the recent downturn."

Finally, what are you most looking forward to when you attend the OAAs on the night?

"Meeting the other finalists, networking and learning from some of the best in the industry. We're looking forward to catching up with clients, colleagues and friends; celebrating and having fun with the Exceed team and our partners."

Winners of the 2019 Offshore Achievement Awards will be announced at a black tie ceremony on Thursday 14 March 2019. View the full shortlist through our finalists page
