4 Weeks to Nomination Deadline - Top Tips

November 2015

With just 4 weeks to go until nominations close for the 2016 OAAs, have you submitted your nomination yet?

Each year, the OAA judging panel give their time and experience to judge a variety of categories and in that time, have seen what should, and should not, be included in a successful entry.

Elliot Kinch, Business Development Manager at Interwell UK and Vice-Chair of the Schools Career Guidance Committee for the SPE Aberdeen Section, will sit on the 2016 judging panel and has given us some of his top tips for a winning award submission.

What do you look for in a great award entry?

"A quality, original and innovative submission. The industry has seen a lot of change in the 40 years of oil and gas in the North Sea, so judges always like to see new ways of conducting business. The most challenging problems can be solved with the simplest of solutions."

What mistake do you hate to see in an award entry?

"The buzzwords in the industry, do sometimes make one cringe. ‘Market leader’ and ‘award winning technology’ can be somewhat misleading, depending on the accreditation."

What makes a winner stand out?

"An energetic company who provides a great service, which is fully worthy as an award winner as best in its class."
